Following the first-ever World Sustainable Procurement Day, initiated by the The Sustainable Procurement Pledge, we wanted to share the key insights from our perspective. The status and implementation of sustainable procurement in German companies and organizations varies widely. The German association of the SPP presents pioneers of sustainable procurement in science, industry, SMEs and sectors. Their experiences serve as inspiration, example or guide for all of us who drive sustainable procurement forward in our everyday work.
Moderated by Astrid Bosten, Peter Koehne and Thomas Heine, here are some of the core messages we took out as the most important
Ronald Bogaschewsky: "Having the courage to critcially reflect on critical paths like products and their supplychain, even if they seem to be secure. Changing the worldwide setup of value chains in inevitable."
Ruediger Senft: "Focus on the core activities which have the biggest impact. Work together with the suppliers on strategies and creating valuable partnerships. Get the right people on board - people are the most essential asset, either Top Down or Bottom Up."
Torben Link: "Procurement is more than pure price bargaining, there needs to be a holistic approach to the process. Don’t get anxious about complexity. Start with the first things which align to the company goals."
Stefan Krojer: Use the “Startup mindset”. Lean sustainable procurement can be successful as follows: Start small, move fast, fail early and use every discussion with your suppliers to bring sustainability on the agenda.
We at mysupply are very excited to have such pioneers around us, with Ronald Bogaschewsky, a member of our Advisory Board, and Torben Link from Steinbeis Papier GmbH, one of our first customers. You wonder how we automatically make sustainability actionable in the context of negotiations? Find out below or get in contact with us directly.
